This week in our American Dressage Legends series we hear about 2007 Roemer Foundation/USDF Hall of Fame inductee Edgar Hotz and USEF "S" Dressage Judge Kathy Rowse joins us to talk about using cones to improve your accuracy when riding.
Kathy Rowse, Suffolk, VA, owns and operates Silverleaf Farm with her husband Mike. Kathy is a USEF “S” dressage Judge, USDF L Program faculty member, and member of the USEF Youth Committee. She is a USDF Gold, Silver, and Bronze medalist who has coached numerous students to their USDF medals.

This week the American Dressage Legends series continues with a look at the life of 2006 Roemer Foundation/USDF Hall of Fame inductee and international breeding stallion, Roemer. In Vet Connections, Dr. Stephen Reed from Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital joins us for part one of an in-depth discussion on equine protozoal myelitis (EPM).
Stephen Reed DVM, Dipl, ACVIM, Lexington, KY, graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Reed is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and practices out of Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital. Dr Reed’s main interest is in equine neurology with a special interest in equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM), “wobbler” syndrome, and equine herpes virus myeloencephalopathy.

This week the American Dressage Legend series continues with a look at the life of 2003 Roemer Foundation/USDF Hall of Fame inductee, Olympian Major Robert Borg. Rachel Saavedra joins us to talk about her experience at this and other FEI- Level Trainers Conferences she has attended over the years. Then in Vet Connections, we start a four part series on back pain; this week, Dr. Wittich discusses back pain in dressage horses.
Rachel Saavedra of San Ramon, CA is a certified Instructor to FEI B level and an Instructor Trainer Senior Faculty member.
Courtney Wittich, MS, DVM of Lexington, KY, received a bachelor’s degree in Equestrian Studies and pre-veterinary medicine from the University of Findlay in Ohio, a master’s degree in Veterinary Epidemiology from Texas A&M, followed by a DVM from The Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. After graduating, Courtney completed a 15-month Sport Horse internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, KY. In 2014 she returned to Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, working in Lexington and Wellington for the Sport Horse Department.

Lendon Gray of Bedford, NY competed in the 1980 and 1988 Olympics, World Championships, and World Cup. Lendon has been involved with multiple organizations and established the Youth Dressage Festival. Her non-profit, Dressage4Kids, offers training, educational programs, and scholarships for young dressage riders of all levels.
Jan Ebeling of Moorpark, CA is an international competitor and trainer, having competed in the 2012 Olympics, the World Cup in 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2012, and the 2003 Pan American Games where he won a Gold Medal. He has served as a USDF Young Rider Clinician and Chef d’Equipe.
Emme Johnston of Raleigh, NC is a certified instructor through Second Level and has earned her USDF Bronze Medal.

In 2011, Dr. Laura Werner, DVM, MS, DACVS joined Hagyard Equine Medical Institute as a Surgery Associate in the Davidson Surgery Center. Dr. Werner has worked as a FEI Veterinary Delegate at some of the top Three-Day Eventing competitions in the United States.
