USDF President George Williams joins us to wrap up the 2017 Adequan®/ USDF Convention and we have an interview from our archives with Laura Graves.
Laura Graves, Geneva, FL, and Verdades earned an individual silver medal and team gold medal at the Pan American Games. They also were members of the bronze medal-winning U.S. Dressage Team at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Verdades, owned and ridden by Laura Graves, was named 2017 Adequan®/USDF Grand Prix Horse of the Year. Verdades' median score of 79.940 percent made him the top horse in the United States competing at this level.
George Williams, Wellington, FL, has served as the USDF President since 2010. He is also a competitor, trainer, and clinician. He is a USEF Youth Coach and serves on multiple USEF committees.

This week we have interviews with Youth/Young Adult Dressage Sport Horse Breeders Seminar presenter Kevin Reinig, and participants Nila Venkat, and Bree Kenney. We also start a new series on the mind/ body connection with Sandy Venneman PhD.
Kevin Reinig, Rancho Murieta, CA, and his wife Ericka started their breeding, training, and sales business KEFA Performance Horses in 2003. Kevin has served on the executive board of the California Dressage Society for six years and has been the president since 2013.
Sandy Venneman PhD, Sealy, TX, is an experimental psychologist, with a lifetime teaching certificate in secondary education, Sandy combines psychology with 40 years experience riding to help equestrians reach their potential. Coaching riders in the use of psychology to improve their riding, she instructs and gives mounted and un-mounted clinics nationwide.

In our education segment, we have the final part of the four part series Helping Your Horse Perform its Best recorded at the 2016 Adequan®/USDF Annual Convention. In this segment, certified practitioner of the Masterson Method of Performance Equine Body Work, Coralie Hughes, talks about how and why horses get sore.
Isabell Werth, Rheinberg, GER, is the most decorated rider in Olympic history with 10 Olympic medals, 7 World Championships, 13 European Championships, and 14 German Championships. Isabell captivated the crowd at the FEI World Cup™ Finals Omaha 2017, winning the FEI Grand Prix competition at the CenturyLink Center on Thursday. Riding her Olympic mount Weihegold, Werth rode to an impressive score of 82.300%, the only entry to score above 80%.
Coralie Hughes, Coatesville, IN, is a Certified Practitioner of the Masterson Method of Performance Equine Bodywork. In addition to earning her USDF Bronze Medal, Coralie, is a German to English translator and co-author of the Dressage Movements Revealed DVD set and The Dressage Horse Optimized.

This week Missy Ransehousen joins us to recap the 2016 Rio Paralympics. We have an interview with Yvonne Barteau, author of The Dressage Horse Manifesto, and an excerpt from the 2015 USDF Sport Horse Prospect Development Forum featuring Scott Hassler and Willy Arts.
Missy Ransehousen, Unionville, PA, operates Blue Hill Farm with her mother well known Olympic rider Jessica Ransehousen. Missy has made her own mark on the equestrian world being named 2011 USEF Para Coach of the year. Missy was selected as the coach for the 2000 Paralympics Team in Sydney and also coached the US Para Team to first place at the Pacific Rim Championships in 2006, and has served as Paralympics' coach in 2000, 2004,2008 & 2012.
Yvonne Barteau, Maple Park, IL, is a lifetime equestrian who has dedicated her life to understanding horses and preparing them for their careers. Yvonne has trained over ten horses to the Grand Prix Level. She and her husband Kim operate KYB Dressage LLC based out of Grand Prix Equestrian a state of the art dressage facility located approximately 50 miles west of Chicago. Yvonne has authored several books, including Ride the Right Horse, The Dressage Horse Manifesto, The Spirit of the Horse, and All the Kings Horsemen.
Scott Hassler, Chesapeake City, MD, and Willy Arts, Hanford, CA, will be presenters again at this year's USDF Sport Horse Prospect Development Forum, which will be held October 22-23 at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine. Auditor pre-registration closes October 7. This program provides a correct fundamental system for starting sport horse prospects. The forum is intended for trainers, owners, and breeders, with the goal of developing a consistent training foundation for all sport horse prospects

This week we catch up with US Dressage Technical Advisor/Chef d'Equipe Robert Dover and four-time Olympic rider Steffen Peters as they talk about their Team Bronze medal and experiences at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
Steffen Peters, San Diego, CA, was born in Wesel, Germany. In 1984 Peters met American trainer Laurie Falvo who invited him to work at her barn in San Diego. Since that time, he has represented the U.S. at numerous championships and earned many national titles. Peters won his first Olympic medal, a Team Bronze, at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games aboard Udon. He and Floriano were the alternates on the 2004 Athens Olympic team. In 2006, Peters and Floriano were the anchor on the Bronze medal-winning team at the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games. Steffen has also been a featured presenter at the USDF FEI-Level Trainers Conference.
RobertDover, Wellington, FL, competed in his first Olympics in 1984. He competed in every summer Games between 1984 and 2004, winning four Team Bronze medals. He also took a team bronze at the 1994 World Equestrian Games. Dover is the most honored dressage rider in the United States, and has been inducted to the United States Dressage Federation Hall of Fame. In April 2013, Dover was named Technical Advisor/Chef d'Equipe for the US national dressage team. Dover founded the Equestrian Aid Foundation in 1996 to assist others in the equestrian world.

In this special episode, get to know Olympic athlete Laura Graves and Paralympic athlete Rebecca Hart.
Laura Graves, Geneva,FL, abandoned her career as a hairstylist to turn her unruly horse, Verdades, known as Diddy, into a dressage superstar. Chosen as a foal by her mother from a video, Graves advanced him up the levels herself with the guidance of several top trainers. Together Laura and Verdades won Team Gold and Individual Silver medals at the Pan American Games. Since then they have placed in the top FEI competitions and will be an exciting pair to watch.
Rebecca Hart, Unionville, PA, has represented the U.S. at several international events, including the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games and the 2008 and 2012 Paralympic Games. In 2014, she paired with her new mount, Schroeters Romani. They placed seventh in each of their three tests at the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games and won back-to-back USEF Para-Equestrian Dressage National Championships in 2014 and 2015. Hart is a seven-time USEF Para-Equestrian Dressage National Champion.
